Returnal and It Takes Two Lead the 2022 BAFTA Games Nominations

Ratchet & Clank and Forza Horizon 5 also received a number of nominations.

 

The 2022 BAFTA Games Awards nominations have been announced, with Returnal and It Takes Two leading the way with eight nominations each.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart picked up seven nominations, while Forza Horizon 5 and Psychonauts 2 both picked up six.

In the EE Game of the Year category, the only category voted for by the public, voting has now opened with Chicory: A Colorful Tale, while DEATHLOOP, The Forgotten City, It Takes Two, Metroid Dread and Unpacking have also made the shortlist.

Last year’s winners

 

At the 2021 BAFTA Game Awards, Hades dominated the event, taking home 5 awards, including Game of the Year.

With a record number of votes, The Last of Us Part II also took home the EE Game of the Year award.

Elsewhere, Phobia Game Studio’s horror title Carrion was named Best Debut, Ghost of Tsushima won Audio Achievement, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales took the Music Award, Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition won Original Property and Sea of Thieves won the Evolving Game Award.

Media Molecule’s Dreams won in the Technical Achievement category, while studio director Siobhan Reddy received BAFTA’s highest honour, the Fellowship for her pioneering work in diversity and creative work culture.
