Christian Bale’s Thor: Love and Thunder Villain Will Be “the Stuff of Nightmares”

MOVIE NEWS – According to new claims about Gorr The God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, the villain in Thor: Love and Thunder is “creepy” and “very scary”.

While many fans are excited to see the return of Marvel’s “most powerful avenger” in Thor: Love and Thunder, the film has a big controversial villain in the person of Gorr, The God Butcher. Although no images or footage of Christian Bale’s character from the actual film have yet to see the light of day, with all references to the toy line’s reveal, Gorr’s expected appearance has left fans seriously divided. However, those who claim to have seen footage of Bale’s Gorr have said that he is a truly remarkable addition to the MCU’s roster of bad guys.

A few weeks ago, the first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder finally arrived, and while there were glimpses of Russell Crowe’s Zeus, Natalie Portman as The Mighty Thor, and Chris Hemsworth’s return as Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, there was no mention of Christian Bale’s new villain in the footage. While we’ll likely see more in the first full trailer for the film, which will probably arrive sometime in the coming weeks ahead of the film’s July premiere, those who have reportedly seen Gorr in action have suggested that fans shouldn’t be too worried.

Industry insiders John Campea, Robert Meyer Burnett and Erin Cummings said on The John Campea Show that Bale’s new Marvel villain is “a thing known from nightmares”. While they didn’t give too much away, the details shared about Gorr should settle at least a few fan questions, which mainly relate to the fact that the character doesn’t appear to be heavily made up with prosthetics and will simply be Christian Bale in a belted, toga-like suit. Campea says:

“We have footage of Gorr that we don’t share with people because I’ve gotten in trouble for it before. When you see Christian Bale as Gorr, oh my god. What we saw was downright creepy. It’s like he came out of nightmares. Gorr came out of straight nightmares.”

Whatever fans may think of Gorr’s supposed appearance, the Divine Butcher, played by Christian Bale, director Taika Waititi certainly didn’t hold back in hyping up the film and the character, going so far as to call him Marvel’s best villain to date. In the face of Thanos, Green Goblin and Killmonger, that’s no small claim, but Waititi was happy to make it during the early promotion of the film. He previously said:

“It’s a great, entertaining, quirky little team of heroes, a new team for Thor with Korg, Valkyrie and the mighty Thor. And in my humble opinion, we’re probably getting the best villain Marvel has ever had in Christian Bale”.

It’s certainly a way to hype a character. As we count down the days to the next trailer and its possible first look at the villain of Thor: Love and Thunder, many are already breathlessly waiting to see what is coming to the MCU this July.
