Will PS1 Classic Dino Crisis be Coming to PS4 and PS5?!

An image circulating on the internet suggests that PS1’s classic survival horror game Dino Crisis is coming to PS4 and PS5.

Capcom’s Resident Evil is the number one survival-horror game franchise in the gaming world, and for a good reason. But Resident Evil isn’t the only survival horror series Capcom has made. In the PlayStation 1 era, Capcom also released a dinosaur survival horror game called Dino Crisis, which became a fan favourite. Dino Crisis spawned two main-series sequels, a light-weapon game adaptation and a mobile release, but the franchise had been dormant for almost two decades.

Over the years, there have been rumours that Capcom might be looking to make a Dino Crisis remake or remaster, though nothing substantial has come of these. While it remains to be seen if the Dino Crisis franchise will ever return with a brand new release, modern gamers will now have easier access to at least the original Dino Crisis game.

Twitter user DarkClong shared an image of what is supposed to be the revamped PlayStation Plus menu for the PS5. PS Plus Premium and its companions have recently been rolled out to people in certain parts of Asia, so information about what the service will include has circulated online. The image in question shows Dino Crisis as one of the classic PS1 games coming to PS Plus Premium, suggesting that the game will soon be playable on PS4 and PS5.

The highest-priced PS Plus subscription level, PS Plus Premium, gives users access to hundreds of retro games, including many PS1 classics. But these PS1 classics aren’t just coming to the new consoles via PS Plus Premium. Some of them will also be available as individual purchases so that even those who don’t want to subscribe to PS Plus Premium can play them. And if you already own these games digitally, you can download them for PS4 and PS5 at no extra cost. This won’t apply to all classic games that come with PS Plus Premium, so it will be interesting to see whether or not Dino Crisis is one of them.

Not all classic games will have trophies that players can unlock, but some will. Syphon Filter, for example, has confirmed that there will be trophies at launch, as will other classic PS1 games such as Ape Escape and Wild Arms. It’ll also be interesting to see if Dino Crisis will have trophy support when it launches on PS4 and PS5.

The launch date for PS Plus Premium in North America is June 13, so fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out more about the offer and whether or not Dino Crisis will be included.

Dino Crisis is available for Dreamcast, PC and PS1.
