MOVIE NEWS – Angelina Jolie is set to direct Salma Hayek’s upcoming film, Without Blood, where the two Eternal Love stars reunite.

The Eternals star Angeline Jolie will officially direct her new film Without Blood, starring Salma Hayek. The Academy Award-winning actress made her directorial debut in 2011 with The Land of Blood and Honey. Blood and Honey was a romantic war film starring Goran Kostic and Zana Marjanovic. From then on, Jolie has only continued to enrich and expand her directorial repertoire.

She went on to direct three feature films, including Unbroken and First They Killed My Father. Jolie gained even more attention with the 2015 romantic drama By the Sea, in which she not only directed but also starred opposite her former husband, Brad Pitt. Since the release of By the Sea, however, Jolie has significantly retreated from directing. Jolie’s mind and energy have been focused elsewhere – she has joined the MCU. Her dreams became a reality when she made her debut last year as Thena in the MCU’s The Eternals, opposite Hayek, who played Ajak.

Yet it seems as though Jolie has a renewed passion and desire to get back into directing. It was announced in March 2022 that Jolie had signed a three-year deal with Fremantle to produce and direct Without Blood. Without Blood is based on the best-selling Italian novel of the same name by Alessandro Baricco. Jolie has the task of getting back into the swing of things and the pressure of taking on an adaptation. And now it has just been announced that Hayek will star alongside Demian Bichir in Jolie’s upcoming film.

Although the roles have not yet been revealed, it is certain that Without Blood will reunite Jolie and Hayek after their work together in The Eternals. With this powerful pairing, it will be interesting to see how they adapt to working together again, especially since Jolie is now at the helm of the project and directing the film. Jolie is, therefore, not only the director of Without Blood but also the writer and producer.

So far, fans have shared little about how the film adaptation will differ from the original novel. However, the source material follows the story of the main character Nina, who is trying to recover from a terrible, unknown conflict. The novel’s plot is as ominous and vague as there is little news about what exactly the film will be about. Without Blood is currently shooting in Rome and southern Italy.
