After days of online fever and anticipation over the God of War Ragnarok release date unveiling, Cory Barlog is asking fans to be patient.
Fans of God of War Ragnarok are anxiously awaiting news on the game, as well as an official release date. Following a false rumour a few weeks ago that God of War Ragnarok would be delayed to 2023, Bloomberg has reported that the planned release date is now November 2022. Bloomberg sources have also suggested that a November release date for God of War: Ragnarok will be announced by the end of June.
It didn’t take long for the rumour mill to get going…
Some have suggested that the game’s release date will be announced at State of Play, which marks the end of the month of big reveals. However, State of Play is not mentioned in the Bloomberg report; and a God of War Ragnarok appearance at the State of Play seems incredibly unlikely at the moment. However, many are still believing and hoping for news on a release date, but now Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog has cooled the mood.
In a recent post on Twitter, Barlog stated that he would share all the God of War Ragnarok information as soon as possible if he could, but that’s not up to him. He calls for patience, as many fans have repeatedly expressed their desire to know the release date, and promises to share as soon as possible.
“We make games for you. [W]e get to make games because of you,” he concludes.
It’s an understatement to say that God of War Ragnarok is one of the year’s most anticipated titles, so while fan enthusiasm is understandable, there’s no rushing things. Sony and Santa Monica will be announcing the date and showing more of the game well before release, so it’s best to let the companies involved do so at their own pace. That being said, it should be noted that while Cory Barlog has apparently, if indirectly, addressed rumours of a release date reveal, he has not openly denied that anything would happen on June 30.
Noted insider Tom Henderson recently commented on Twitter that it appears Sony and Santa Monica are preparing an announcement, which would fit in nicely with previous rumours.
And in the comments, he replied to someone who said that a gameplay trailer and release date reveal would follow on June 30: “not even a gameplay trailer”. All the signs seem to be pointing to today, and given what we know so far, fans will probably want to keep an eye on the PlayStation Blog.
One thing’s for sure: Ragnarok is coming, and it’s essential to give it the time it deserves.
dear all,
if it were up to me I would share all the information when I know about it. but it is not up to me.

I promise things will be shared at the earliest possible moment they can be.
