Rockstar May Not Make The GTA 4 & Red Dead Redemption Remasters After All?!

According to a reliable Rockstar source, plans for remasters of Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption have been scrapped.

Rockstar Games recently announced Grand Theft Auto 6, and many fans are excited about the franchise’s future. Almost nothing is known about the game, but if we’re lucky, the developers will reveal more information about it soon. In the meantime, many fans are curious about other Rockstar titles – a report about the Bully 2 project, which was supposedly cancelled last year, has also piqued some interest, while many rumours point towards various remasters.

For example, rumours of a Red Dead Redemption remaster are coming in by the dozens.

Recently, there have also been rumours of a Grand Theft Auto 4 remaster, but according to a reliable source, all these rumours are just rumours.

Tez2 is a well-known name in the Rockstar/Red Dead/Grand Theft Auto community. While nothing that comes from an unofficial channel should be taken at face value, Tez2 is more reliable than some anonymous users on the internet. They have reportedly spoken to a credible source about Rockstar’s plans, and according to their source, remasters of Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption 1 were indeed planned a few years ago. However, at some point and for unspecified reasons, the company reportedly scrapped those plans.

It is unclear if this is speculation by Tez2 or their source, but it is speculated that the reception of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition may have influenced this decision.

As you know, that collection remastered Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas, but unfortunately, it had some serious technical problems. Several patches have been released, but it remains a blot on Rockstar’s portfolio.

Obviously, many fans are outraged by this news. Red Dead Redemption is a classic in the making, and a remaster closer to the scale of Red Dead Redemption 2 sounds like an instant success. The same can be said for Grand Theft Auto 4. However, it should be noted that the company is renowned for moving slowly and steadily with its games.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see how Rockstar’s future remasters turn out.

Parent company Take-Two Interactive is reportedly planning several remasters for the coming years, and many have speculated that at least RDR1. Now, however, there may just be remastered titles coming from other companies under the Take-Two banner.
