The Filming Of The Series Based On The Legendary Playstation Game Franchise Twisted Metal Has Ended

MOVIE NEWS – The filming of the live-action adaptation of Twisted Metal has been completed. Based on the PlayStation-exclusive video game series of the same name, the series is produced by Peacock and will be released exclusively on this streaming platform.

Showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith tweeted an image on Saturday, revealing that filming has officially wrapped for the season. In a few more tweets, Smith praises the project’s cast and crew.

“The cast and crew of Twisted Metal were quite special,” he said. “Despite lightning delays, extreme heat and unruly cars, everyone worked as hard as they could to make Twisted Metal the best it could be. hit the big one. The last day of filming was like the last day of camp, with lots of laughs, a few tears and ice cream handed out from the back of Sweet Tooth’s truck. We can’t wait for you to see this crazy thing we spent the summer filming. Now and up for posting!”

We previously reported that Will Arnett will be voicing Sweet Tooth, the sadistic clown mentioned by Smith who serves as the mascot for the video game series. The series will primarily follow Anthony Mackie in the lead role of John Doe, with additional stars including Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church and Neve Campbell. Smith will also executive produce the series alongside Arnett, Mackie, director Kitao Sakurai, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.

Twisted Metal has been described – with the usual US PR flair – as a “high-octane action-comedy” series based on an original concept by Deadpool and Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The series will feature characters based on different unique racers from the games, but the story isn’t exactly the same, as the games typically center around a deadly demolition derby race where the lone surviving racer can get their final wish. The announced logline for the series reads:

“Twisted Metal is about a biker-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he successfully delivers a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a cunning car thief, he confronts wild marauders driving destructive vehicles and with other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown driving an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.”

The Twisted Metal series does not yet have a premiere date, but it will be streaming exclusively on Peacock.
