TECH NEWS – The iPad Mini 7 is rumored to be coming soon with a new SoC (system-on-a-chip).
The tech company is working on smaller tablets, as there is a demand for them, too. According to an analyst, the iPad Mini 7 could be in mass production and shipping by the end of 2023, with a release in early 2024. Ming-Chi Kuo wrote on Twitter that shipments could slip into the early or first half of 2024. With the economic crisis developing in the world, Apple might wait a bit before launching the new mini tablet because it would not make financial sense to release a new product in the middle of a crisis, as fewer people could afford it due to the constant high inflation, so many iPad Mini 7 would remain unsold.
The iPad Mini 6 uses the A15 Bionic SoC, and the successor is said to be based on the 4-nanometer A16 Bionic used in both the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. It will need to be paired with a competitive price, as the iPad Mini 6 is currently selling at a discounted price. The new iPad Mini may use the same 8.3″ IPS LCD, and hopefully, it will be paired with more RAM, possibly with more camera sensors on the back.
There are already some foldable phones on the market, but they are not cheap. However, Apple offers its products at a higher price by default, so if the company were to make a similar product, it would not be favorable to customers. Ming-chi Kuo says that although a foldable iPad could come around 2025, he does not think it will replace the iPad Mini range because the price difference due to foldability would significantly impact annual sales. According to Samsung, Apple will enter the market in 2024 with an iPad and not an iPhone, while CCS Insight analyst Ben Wood says that if there is an iPhone, it would be at least $2,500. Otherwise, it would hurt sales of the traditional product line. Wood also says that the foldable iPad and iPad Mini will remain side by side.
So the future of the product line could be interesting because marketing a small foldable tablet would not be easy.
