Will Grand Theft Auto VI Be Properly Announced In 2023?

Although we already know that Rockstar Games is now focusing all its efforts on the new Grand Theft Auto, we have yet to see it officially in action (as we have already seen it in the form of a leak).

Tom Henderson (who has grown to be reliable over this year) wrote on Insider Gaming that he thinks Rockstar Games and Take-Two will make an official announcement next year (we could almost write this year…), and then Grand Theft Auto VI could come in either 2024 or 2025. He’s going for the latter, as Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were released two years after their proper reveal. Therefore, Microsoft’s prediction might be overly optimistic (the Redmond-based company has predicted GTA VI in 2024).

“I said that Grand Theft Auto 6 will release in either 2024 or 2025, which is a firm date I strongly still believe is happening. A 2023 announcement would line up with these years perfectly, especially if you’re familiar with how Rockstar Games and Take-Two have generally handled their game announcements and releases in the past. Is a release announcement for 2024 possible? Sure, but Rockstar’s track record suggests that the game will be pushed back another year anyway,” Henderson writes.

Incidentally, in one of its submissions to the UK’s competition and markets watchdog, the CMA (in which it argued why it would be good to close the $68.7 billion transaction to acquire Activision Blizzard), Microsoft mentioned that the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be available from 2024. In early November, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the Rockstar Games hack would have no impact on Grand Theft Auto VI and that he preferred a delay rather than a big flop.

That’s why there is no announcement yet on when GTA VI will be available…
