Multiplayer Requirements For Platinum Trophies Can Be Unfortunate

Many players would like to see multiplayer trophies not mandatory in games to get a platinum trophy.

The multiplayer option does not last forever for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games. Each of them will have a server shutdown at some point, or there will be no chance of finding another player to connect to in a p2p (peer-to-peer) solution. So there may also be little chance of winning the trophies associated with them. This theme has been popping up for years and mainly affects games that are primarily single-player or possibly have a cooperative mode.

“Let’s make an appeal to Sony about this. It sucks not to get the Platinum trophy. You hate subscribing to PlayStation Plus because you hate playing multiplayer. For reply type 1: those who are saying that multiplayer games like Call of Duty and Battlefield will always have multiplayer trophies are correct, and I’m not saying to remove them, but games where it’s primarily offline oriented like The Last of Us or Uncharted 4, multiplayer trophies should exist but in a similar way where it doesn’t affect the Platinum trophy.

For reply type 2: those saying that trophies can’t be attained anymore where the servers of certain games shut down. This is a rare case and has been seen with 25 games (considering the most popular ones out of 3278 PlayStation 4 games). The most crucial point is that the chances of the servers shutting down increase when the particular game becomes 7 to 8 years old (Mad Max). Otherwise, we shouldn’t bother about this tiny problem, considering how stable the gaming market has evolved since Sony has taken every developer under their control and regulations. For type 3: those who are saying that trophies are meaningless, then any action taken regarding this post shouldn’t harm them, but it’s still hurting people like us. So please be considerate and support us for any future cause. I don’t know how to make Sony hear this,” reads a Reddit post.

If it’s a sports game that comes out every year (e.g., F1 22), you have to look hard for other players years later, and the post is correct that not everyone wants to play online for one reason or another. Sony should do something about it, but they won’t.
