TECH NEWS – Apple will innovate in the big tablet segment, and these models will feature OLED displays.
Recently, it was rumored that Apple has dropped plans to release a 14.1″ iPad Pro with a mini-LED display. Now, we can report on what alternatives the company is preparing. On the one hand, the size of the display has been reduced, and on the other, its technology has been replaced by another, Ross Young confirmed to MacRumors: an iPad Pro with an 11.1-inch display and an iPad Pro with a 13-inch display are in the pipeline, and both will have OLED displays.
These models could come sometime in 2024, and there could be a few other changes, such as a thinner bezel around the screen and a minor form factor reshaping of the tablet. It isn’t the first time an iPad Pro with OLED display has been rumored, but the size of the displays is new. The current larger model is 12.9″ and has a mini-LED display, while the smaller 11″ version has a traditional LCD display. Both models have Apple’s M2 chip, which gives good CPU and GPU performance. By switching to OLED display, the company can eliminate the differences in display technology.
The new models are also expected to get new chips, improving performance and battery life. However, don’t expect them in 2023, as Apple launched the current models in October, so 2024 is a realistic release date for the two new iPad Pro models. It would also coincide with Apple supposedly putting OLED displays in future iPad and MacBook models, which will be released in 2024. The downside of it is that the release of the 14.1″ iPad Pro, scheduled for 2023, has been taken off the drawing board.
The other day, we wrote about the possible future of the iPad Mini models, so it somehow seems handy that there was also talk of high-end tablets. They won’t be foldable though (how idiotic would that look…?).
