Racing games and an N64 classic will join the Xbox Game Pass line-up in February, with another day-one title coming in May.
Microsoft announced Thursday that two current racing games would join the already-announced GoldenEye 007 and Hi-Fi Rush in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass libraries over the next two weeks. Racing demons can dive into the narrative-driven world of Codemasters’ Grid Legends. And get behind the wheel of a small car in Milestone’s Hot Wheels Unleashed – Game of the Year Edition.
Grid Legends is available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who get access to EA Play’s game catalogue.
Codemasters’ driving game will be released in February 2022. We quite liked it, primarily because of the wonderfully constructed international racing series. In it, Ncuti Gatwa (also known from the Netflix series Sex Education) and Natsumi Kuroda are the rivals and teammates of the player character, who take on the ruthless Ravenwest Motorsport racing team. Grid Legends will join the Xbox Game Pass/EA Play line-up on February 2.
Hot Wheels Unleashed, released in September 2021, was also one of our favourite racing games of the year. The Game of the Year edition, which includes three post-release car collections, arrived in September 2022. Milestone’s title marries authentic racing physics with arcade action, plastic tracks and candy paint jobs spanning 30 years of classic collectible cars. The game will be available on cloud, console and PC on February 7.

Another Xbox Game Pass exclusive launch is on the horizon
Yesterday saw an unexpected explosion with the release of Hi-Fi Rush on the service. However, the latest confirmed Xbox Game Pass title won’t arrive until May. Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 from developer CyberConnect2 has been announced as a day-one release. The official release date is May 11, and it will be available on both Xbox and PC Game Pass.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is a unique turn-based RPG in which a group of kids adventure together while living in a giant tank.
It’s not tank combat, as the kids fight for survival in a terrifying world. Players also have to search for resources and socialize among the group. It is the war story at the heart of Fuga: Melodies of Steel, however, that has captured the audience. Needless to say, twelve kids in a tank fighting for survival is not a healthy living situation.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers interested in trying Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 can play the original game now. Fuga: Melodies of Steel is currently available on the service. It has undoubtedly been a success if CyberConnect2 takes the opportunity to release the sequel to Fuga on Game Pass on day one.
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 will also be released for #XboxGamePass and #PCGamePass on the release date, May 11, 2023!
