A new Star Wars adventure game from Respawn, the makers of Titanfall and Apex Legends, is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S this spring.

After the success of the Dead Space remake and Wild Hearts, confidence in EA’s more traditional development seems to be at an all-time high. This assessment has much to do with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the next instalment in Respawn Entertainment’s spin-off series. The game arrives on April 27 for PC, PS5 and Xbox X Series X/S. But old-gen consoles will be ignored.

Although PS5 and Xbox Series S and X are no longer considered so new, some industry teams are still betting on cross-generational releases.

The current hit, Hogwarts Legacy, will be released later this year for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Why not Star Wars Jedi: Survivor? Titanfall and the team behind the adventure wanted to answer that question. There are several advantages to the game being PC, PS5 and Xbox Series only.

We learned early on that its features allow us to create much larger maps with more detail, higher density, more enemies and NPCs, and better visual fidelity. We didn’t want to interrupt what we did in the first game because it was so well received, but we also wanted to improve and enhance the experience.”

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor continues the story of Cal Kestis five years after the events of Fallen Order. “Forced into exile by the Empire, Kestis must defend against new and old threats. As one of the last Jedi Knights, he must face the darkest times in the galaxy. How far will he go to protect himself, his crew and the legacy of the Jedi Order?”
