The Diablo IV Open Beta Test Is Coming Soon! [VIDEO]

Activision Blizzard has announced when we can try the new Diablo, which might not be as exploitatively loaded with monetization as Diablo Immortal (but chances are we’re chasing our dreams…).

The open beta for Diablo IV includes the prologue and the entire first act. The first zone, Fractured Peak, can be explored at your pace. Blizzard allows progression up to level 25. All main and side quests will be available in the area. However, if you buy the game, you will have to restart the whole thing, so there is no way to pick up where you left off, but there will be an early access period we need to mention.

So the open beta will run from March 24 to 26 on all platforms, but you can play more if you pre-order. If you do that, you’ll get extra days because you’ll be able to play Blizzard’s next game from March 17 to 19, and in between those two weekends, you can pick up where you left off. During both testing periods, it’s worth lowering your expectations because Blizzard says there will be performance issues and server issues (because after Diablo III, you’ll need to be connected to the internet to prevent piracy and, in the long run, to preserve the game), and even a bugfest.

Regardless, Blizzard is still waiting for feedback so that they can improve the experience in the little over two months that remain afterward. Character creation will play a role in cutscenes, as our characters will dynamically change their appearance depending on what they’re wearing. On February 28, at 11 AM Pacific Time on Blizzard’s YouTube and Twitch channels, Art Peshkov (Lead World Designer), Meng Song (Lead System Designer), and Joe Shely (Director) will be discussing Stronghold and Armor systems in a broadcast alongside the open beta.

Anyone who might want to spend $1100 on a 26″ (66 cm) Inarius premium statue can buy it at Blizzard Gear, sculpted by Brian Fay and Laurent Pierlot and hand-painted by Lewis Villamar. Diablo IV will be released with cross-play on June 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Battle.net), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
