The problem is that we heard (and reported) on the rumors about this weeks ago, so it doesn’t come as a huge surprise to see what’s been happening around the game, which has been less than well-received.
Let’s hear the explanation by Warner Bros. Games and Rocksteady Studios, posted on Twitter: “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will now launch on February 2, 2024. We have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players. Thank you to our amazing community for your continued support, patience, and understanding. There is much more to share in the months ahead, and we look forward to seeing you in Metropolis next year.”
So that’s the typical explanation for why the game’s release has had to be delayed yet again. We’re confident that Rocksteady isn’t the culprit in this case, as they’ve created excellent games with Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight. It is not the first time that a Warner Bros. Games studio keeps postponing the release of its announced game, and then when it reaches gamers, it is far from a product of staggering quality.
Warner Bros. Montréal took nine years to release Gotham Knights after its previous game, Batman: Arkham Origins (and they dropped the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions along the way), and for Rocksteady, it will be almost nine years before they get from Batman: Arkham Knight to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. It can’t be the studio’s fault, but instead, we suspect Warner because, in the meantime, NetherRealm Studios came out almost unnoticed with Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 11. The publisher could be the one that keeps pushing Denuvo on PC (even though a particular move in Injustice 2 made the game LAG…).
So Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on February 2. Since the game concept is rumored to be unchanged, it will remain a live service title. Dead on arrival. Like Anthem from BioWare.
