New Superman Game Could Come Alongside James Gunn’s Movie?!

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has hinted at a new Superman game to accompany the release of James Gunn’s upcoming new DC movie.

David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery chief, likes to hint at new games. He has hinted at upcoming titles before. These are usually products that could be released alongside DC feature films. His latest comment wasn’t just any old thing but a new interactive Superman experience.

David Zaslav spoke about the strength and resilience of the company’s video game profile in the recent Q1’23 earnings call. WB Discovery has been trying to break into this market for some time. It has already achieved some small successes, but now the giant has started to cherish even bigger ambitions.

Specifically, the CEO said that the wealth of wholly-owned intellectual property franchises could encompass all forms of interactive entertainment.

From feature films to games. Zaslav pointed to the significant one billion dollar output of the Hogwarts Legacy. It’s a key example of how the company’s IP can blend with movies and games in the future. Immediately afterwards, he referred to James Gunn’s new Superman: Legacy movie:

“When we launch a product on Max or HBO, and when we have a game, that game belongs to us, but now there’s this in-betweener. It may be in the next couple of years that we launch a Superman movie and…people spend more time, and there’s more economics of people just hanging out in the Superman world and universe.”

Although Zaslav didn’t specifically say that a new Superman game is coming, it’s easy to infer that the CEO was trying to express that it could happen. It won’t be surprising if it all pays off for WB Discovery. The market and popularity of video games is now absolutely mainstream. It is not far behind movies and TV series. The holistic approach of Zaslav and his mega-company is certainly hopeful.
