MOVIE NEWS – Secret Invasion has already surprised viewers with several twists, and the director has confirmed if a cameo is soon (WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for the first episode of the series!)
The Secret Invasion cast has been keeping some secrets so far. But the director of the series is fortunately not one of them. Ali Selim has gone public and confirmed whether fans could expect any of the new Marvel characters to appear on screens in the series.
The first Secret Invasion episode was promised to be a straight-up spy thriller, but it surprised MCU fans. Despite featuring prominently in the comics, the first episode ended with Maria Hill meeting a bad end during a Skrull attack. Taking out a well-known character so early in the series was both shocking and a little disconcerting. Her appearance in the upcoming Marvels movie confused fans with the timeline. But by all reports, he died of a gunshot wound when he was impersonated by a Skrull as Nick Fury. Much about the series has been kept secret, but not information about one particular Marvel character.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has rarely appeared in the Marvel Universe as the mysterious Contessa Valentina, most recently in Black Panther 2.
But even if fans are expecting her to make a big splash in the run-up to the potential Suicide Squad knock-off (Thunderbolts), they’re in for a disappointment. “Those things on the internet are quite funny. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is not in the show… I’m not sure how that ended up there!” he wrote. Selim reported in SFX magazine. The director said that with such an intense storyline, he wasn’t too worried about cameos.
At the heart of Secret Invasion was a key theme: no one can be trusted. That’s why Maria’s death hit the way it did. She watched her mentor and former SHIELD boss pull the trigger. Even as she took her last breath, it wasn’t clear if she knew it was Fury or a Skrull impersonator. Selim was more interested in following through with these types of well-formed story threads. Not just in character appearances in preparation for another franchise film. Louis-Dreyfus’s Valentina may stay in the franchise, but not in this series.
