This Is How Harrison Ford Reacted When He First Saw Indiana Jones’ Iconic Costume! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – You could say Harrison Ford was less than enthusiastic about his costume and props when he first saw them on the set of Raiders of the Lost Ark…

It’s hard to imagine Indiana Jones without his trademark Fedora hat and whip. But before they became almost as iconic as the character himself, Harrison Ford had serious doubts about his choice of costume for Indy in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Even in his latest adventure, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Indy cracks his trusty whip at the bad guys. However, the results may not be as impressive as in his older adventures, when he wasn’t up against a roomful of guns.

Returning to playing the intrepid archaeologist, Ford recently spoke to GQ about the first time he was shown what he’d be wearing in Raiders of the Lost Ark and wasn’t immediately taken with the idea.

Revealing her funny and very typical response, she said:

“It was presented to me as an aspect of character in the first film. My questions about it were many. Why am I wearing a leather jacket in the jungle? Isn’t it hot here? Why am I carrying a whip? What am I going to do with a f*cking whip? I’m going to whip people?”

Despite his initial reservations, Ford didn’t argue with wearing anything he was asked to wear in the 1981 film. The rest is literally history.

Indiana Jones was Harrison Ford’s “role of a lifetime”

Many actors take on a film role without knowing where it will lead. After playing Han Solo in 1977’s Star Wars, Harrison Ford probably didn’t expect to join another colossal franchise almost immediately. But Raiders of the Lost Ark gave him exactly that. Considering that the original Indiana Jones trilogy took place over less than a decade, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusader in 1989 seemingly brought things to a close, the release of The Dial of Destiny means that the franchise now spans five decades.

This time, however, it seems that Indy’s adventures have come to an end, and Ford is pleased with the way this grand adventure has turned out.
