A Take-Two Report May Have Revealed When Is GTA VI Due?!

Take-Two Interactive has apparently hinted at a possible release date for Grand Theft Auto VI as part of its latest financial report.

Take-Two Interactive has given another hint that Grand Theft Auto VI is planned for release in the next 20 months. This small insight into the company’s near-term plans came as part of its latest earnings report. The next instalment in the long-running series is currently scheduled for the publisher’s fiscal year ending in March 2025.

This rumoured Grand Theft Auto VI release window is based on several recent insider reports and Take-Two’s financial projections, which have repeatedly indicated that the company expects strong revenue growth in the next fiscal year.

The publisher has now reiterated this expectation in its earnings report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2024, out on 8 August. CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company has positioned itself for a “significant turnaround” in fiscal 2025. Clarifying this, the CEO noted Take-Two expects “record operating performance” in the 12 months ending March 2025. Some industry observers interpret this as indicating that Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release in this timeframe.

This does not mean that the game’s release date is set in stone. If only because analysts have already misinterpreted one of the publisher’s early 2022 predictions. According to them, GTA VI will be released in March 2024. Given that the game has not even been announced yet, and given the publisher’s historical penchant for long-running marketing campaigns, this prediction is implausible to come true.

Assuming that Grand Theft Auto VI is indeed scheduled for release in Take-Two’s fiscal year 2025, this would plausibly mean that the game could be released towards the end of 2024.

With the exception of GTA IV, all 3D entries in the franchise have followed this trend. That is, they were usually released around October. This timeframe also coincides with a recent leak that GTA VI is targeting a 2024 holiday release. However, it notes that the game could still be delayed. Rockstar is struggling to retain developer talent due to the mandatory return-to-play policy introduced after the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Whatever the case may be, the fact is that Take-Two itself is currently telling investors to prepare for a historically profitable fiscal year 2025. This gives hope that GTA VI will see the light of day in the foreseeable future. After all, the publisher only has one IP that can fuel such unprecedented growth, building on its already impressive $5.35 billion in annual revenue.
