Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth: The Game’s Got A Heartbreaking Trailer! [VIDEO]

A brand new story trailer reveals the release date for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, detailing what fans can expect from the game.

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotako have revealed the official title and release date for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The latter will be on January 26 2024. An extended trailer has been posted on Sega Asia’s English-language YouTube channel, giving fans a deeper insight into what to expect from the upcoming game.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will follow the adventures of Yakuza protagonist Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, the series’ former main character.

The game will take Ichiban and Kazuma to Hawaii, an entirely new location for the franchise. Although the highly anticipated RPG is a direct sequel to the previous instalment, how much time has passed between the games is not yet known.

The story trailer reveals a lot, the most crucial information being that the game will be released on January 26, 2024. The trailer reveals that Ichiban is heading to Hawaii to find his mother, who was previously believed to have been killed by the Yakuza. There was also a shocking confirmation that Kazuma has cancer.

The turn-based RPG will feature Ichiban and Kazuma as the dual protagonists, accompanied by several new and returning characters. There will also be unique and returning factions, such as the Chinese mafia, on the opposing side. As well as the Barracudas, who will target Akane, Ichiban’s mother. In the trailer, Ichiban and Kasuga face various enemies. Among them are a giant shark and a squid. Fan-favourite mini-games such as karaoke also return.

The game is available for pre-order now, with early bonuses, including a special task pack that introduces the Linebacker class for male party members and Tennis Ace for female party members.

The trailer is perfect, as it hits everything that gives the game the distinctive feel of a Yakuza game. It provides an insight into some of the more serious moments in the game, such as Kazuma’s big reveal. At the same time, it retains the goofy and funny scenes, such as Ichiban’s parachuting, that fans have come to expect from the franchise.

The discovery that Kazuma has cancer could also be Sega and Ryu Ga Gotako’s answer to the franchise’s future. It makes fans wonder if this game is a moment to pass the baton.
