MOVIE NEWS – Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – subtitled The Book of Carol – will feature a new recurring role with a more familiar TV star.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has a brand-new character. AMC’s series is a spinoff of The Walking Dead, which, in its first season, followed Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) through France after he was washed ashore and has no memory of how he got there. Season 2, subtitled The Book of Carol, will feature Daryl alongside his old companion Carol (Melissa McBride). She was initially intended to co-star in Season 1 before McBride had to drop out because they couldn’t film in Europe at the time. But he did make a cameo in the season finale.
Deadline reports that a brand new cast member has joined the cast for season 2. Manish Dayal has been cast in an important recurring role.
His character, Ash, is an engineer from the state of Maine who managed to maintain an aeroplane during the zombie apocalypse but is hiding a potentially dark secret in his backyard greenhouse.
Where did we see Manish Dayal before The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon?
Although Dayal joining the series cast will be the first time he will be part of The Walking Dead universe. However, she has already had several prominent television roles. Although his career began in the mid-2000s, his first significant role came when he played the hapless college student Raj Kher in 14 episodes of the CW’s reboot 90210. A recurring role as programmer Ryan Ray in the series Halt and Catch Fire followed this.
His most notable television work to date was by far in the medical drama The Resident, in which he starred alongside Matt Czuchry and Bruce Greenwood for all six seasons until the series was cancelled in January this year.
His other television roles include Vijay Nadeer in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He is also the voice of Shashi Dhar in Fast & Furious: Spy Racers. He has also had some notable film roles. Among others, he played Hassan Kadam in The Hundred-Foot Journey and Faarooq in Holidate.
It is not yet clear how his new character, Ash, will fit into the season’s overall story. However, in the season 1 finale, Carol was seen driving Daryl’s motorcycle up to Maine while trying to find him. Given Ash’s displacement in Maine, it seems likely that he will fly Carol across the ocean to find Daryl. He may even end up stuck with them…
