Some “funny” people called the police on actor Ned Luke of GTA V fame while he was streaming the game on Twitch…
Grand Theft Auto V actor Ned Luke was harassed during a Twitch stream while playing the Rockstar title. Luke plays Michael De Santa, one of the three protagonists of GTA V. With his online presence, he remains connected to the game’s community.
Even though it’s been a problem for some time, “swatting” – that is, when the authorities are alerted to someone’s house without their knowledge as part of a fake emergency call – is still a problem that online streamers, unfortunately, have to deal with.
The authorities are paying more and more attention to the problem. Punishments have also become more severe for those who take part in it. But unfortunately, this is an all too common case. A few months ago, Adin Ross was swatted during a live broadcast of Kick, which shows that creators of any kind can fall victim. In the worst case, this type of harassment can even lead to death. (Yes, this has happened.) It can seriously traumatize victims, and the anonymity of the crime makes it so difficult for authorities to deal with.
Footage from Ned Luke’s Grand Theft Auto V Twitch stream shows him pausing to take a phone call, apparently from someone inside his house. After a short call, he quickly hangs up. Then, he explained exactly why he needed to finish the stream in such a short time. All things considered, Luke kept his cool while being informed of what was going on elsewhere in his home.
Fortunately, it appears that the situation was eventually resolved without anyone getting hurt. Even though it was a colossal waste of time and resources for those involved. Luke ended up tweeting a single shrug emoji to show his frustration with the situation.
Since joining Twitch, it’s been a joy to watch him wreak havoc in Los Santos and explore every area of the Grand Theft Auto V map. Hopefully, this experience isn’t enough to turn him away from streaming so soon after the first few starts.
It is unknown whether Ned Luke will return as Michael De Santa in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V. Online has always connected with fans. But there’s no doubt that with the unveiling of GTA VI, which is just around the corner, it’s stepped up its presence. It could be a coincidence, and with the trailer coming in December, gamers won’t have to wait long to know for sure. However, this would not be the first time. Franklin’s voice actor, Shawn Fonteno, reprized his role in the 2021 Grand Theft Auto Online expansion The Contract.
