MOVIE NEWS – With the new big adaptation of the world of video games, the Fallout series, Amazon can become an absolute adaptation powerhouse…
Vanity Fair magazine has now exclusively published an interesting article with the first official preview images of the Fallout series. It is produced by Amazon Prime Video under license from Bethesda. The iconic blue and yellow uniforms, the ghouls, Brotherhood of Steel and Vault-Tec shelters are the main characters in these first images, which show the careful attention to detail and production design that is very faithful to the original design of the games in the franchise.
After the recent success of the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us, Fallout will be one of the most faithful live-action adaptations in the world of video games.
The Prime Video production does not transfer a specific game to the screen. But it doesn’t seem to have forgotten the key ingredients that make Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPGs so recognizable.
Amazon Prime Video plans to premiere Fallout on April 12, 2024. The series was developed by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan (creators of Westworld for HBO). The story takes place in 2077, after a nuclear war that plunged the world into apocalyptic chaos. It offers a unique perspective on survival and society in a distant future filled with violent factions fighting for survival in a horrific post-nuclear wasteland.
Two hundred nineteen years later, the plot focuses on the story of Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, who has lived her whole life in an underground shelter of Vault-Tec. Humanity is waiting to return safely to the surface. However, the world has changed and mutated in humanity’s absence. Lucy discovers that the outside world is full of giant insects, starving mutants, and disgusting people.
The series explores themes of social inequality, cultural divides, fascism, and the consequences of human choices… also, hopefully, super mutants.
In addition to Joy and Nolan, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are among the showrunners. Moreover, Tom Holland is one of the executive producers of the series. Starring Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Aaron Moten, Mike Doyle and Moises Arias, among others. Hopefully, it will be better received by fans than The Rings of Power! The attempt to revive Tolkien’s mythology on the screen failed to excite the fans of the books and did not become the big phenomenon that his hefty budget wanted…
