Cyberpunk 2077’s Sequel Has Added More Big Developers To The Team!

CD Projekt RED has announced who has joined the project codenamed Orion.

Remember, this game is being developed by the Polish company’s new North American studio, and the project is still in the early stages of development. Several veterans have joined the development team, and they’ve worked not only on the base game, but also on Cyberpunk 2077’s only add-on, Phantom Liberty, which was released only for current-gen platforms. The team is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and so far there have been a few key people (Gabriel Amatangelo, Game Director; Pawel Sasko, Associate Game Director; Igor Sarzynski, Creative Director; Andrzej Stopa, Cinematic Director; Kacper Niepokolczycki, Art Director for Environment; Sarah Grummer, Acting Lead Mission Designer; and Kacper Koscienski, Engineering Director).

Let’s take a look at the newcomers and their previous work. Dan Hernberg joins the team as Executive Producer. Dan’s previous roles include head of production at Amazon Games, head of production and product management at Panic Button, and lead product manager at Blizzard Entertainment, where he worked on titles such as New World, Apex Legends, and Diablo III. Ryan Barnard’s past credits include game director at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft, and gameplay director at Hitman developer IO Interactive. He will contribute his skills as Design Director. Alan Villani joins the Project Orion team as Director of Engineering, having previously served as Vice President of Technology for various Warner Bros. Games products, including technical direction on several Mortal Kombat titles.

Anna Megill is an award-winning game writer and author with 20 years of experience in the video game industry. She joins Project Orion as Lead Writer following narrative contributions to titles such as Control (Remedy), Dishonored: Death of The Outsider (Arkane Studios), Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (Massive Entertainment), Guild Wars 2 (ArenaNet), and the upcoming Fable (Playground Games). Alexander Freed will provide additional writing support for Project Orion. A New York Times bestselling novelist, story designer, and comic book writer with over 15 years of game writing experience, Freed previously worked as a Lead Writer at BioWare on titles including Star Wars: The Old Republic. He has also written and consulted for several major studios, including DICE, Obsidian Entertainment, Wizards of the Coast, and 20th Century Fox’s game division, FoxNext.

Good luck to them!

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
