Nintendo Switch 2: Is The Reveal Delayed, Too?

According to a new rumor, the previously known (and unconfirmed) timeline of the big N has been shuffled.

We’ve already reported on rumors that Nintendo may have pushed back the release of its Switch successor, possibly scheduled for September, to perhaps early 2025, and that the new console could be unveiled before the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March. However, the delay in the release of the new hardware has also brought with it another postponement, which makes perfect sense when you think about it: it means the launch won’t be too early and Nintendo can keep us intrigued.

PH Brazil was the first insider to talk about the Nintendo Switch 2 (we don’t know what the platform is called yet!) being delayed until next year. This was later confirmed by Bloomberg and VGC. Now it is said that the announcement of the new N hardware has also been postponed by the Japanese company, so that it will not be announced in March, but in June. So, in the E3 period, without E3 (because it got a game over, we already wrote about that).

Nintendo will officially announce its plans for the future in May. That’s when the Japanese company will announce its results for the January-March quarter. Therefore, it seems logical that the big N will indeed talk about its next-generation hardware around June: they might drop some light details in May and then show us more in June.

The insider also said that there will be an Indie World show for Switch sometime in March, followed by a more general Nintendo Direct sometime in April. During the latter, the Japanese company may talk about their latest Nintendo Switch titles, as they certainly have some projects in the pipeline for the upcoming hardware. We might also see Metroid Prime 4, which was announced almost seven years ago (!).

All of this is unofficial, of course, but a June hardware reveal sounds logical. A March date would have fit in with the fall console schedule.
