What an unexpected news: the title of the first PlayStation Plus Essential game of March has been leaked!
A day before the Essential tier games for March are announced, it looks like trusty leaker billbil-kun is back in action. Before we dive into the next PlayStation Plus stops, let me recap the month so far. In addition to Rollerdrome, Essential tier subscribers can also grab the first-day releases of Foamstars and Steelrising. These titles are only available until Monday, March 4th, and the new offer starts next Tuesday, March 5th. As for the new lineup, leakster billbil-kun has just announced the March headliner.
As reported by Dealabs, March’s core tier headliner is Sifu, a 2022 beat ’em’ up from Slocap.
As far as sources go, billbil-kun is reliable. The leaker has already correctly predicted a number of PS Plus releases. However, he hasn’t been that active lately. Regardless, we should always take this kind of leaks with caution. Sony will be able to confirm the news later today. It will be interesting to see which titles join Sifu.
Sifu is an excellent game, boasting a Metacritic score of 81. As colleague V wrote in his test: “Sifu will not become a serious mainstream release (…). However, it’s still a winner because although it’s a relentless creation, it’s audiovisually clean, its gameplay is refined, and its handling is excellent.”
After spending some time on the PlayStation Plus subreddit, I know this title has been on a lot of people’s wishlists for quite some time, so March is off to a good start. Beat ’em’ ups aren’t for everyone, though, but hopefully, several other genres will appear in the rest of the lineup.
