It’s been more than one and a half decades (1998 – it’s been quite a while!), when Tiger Woods took the helm of being the face of EA Sports’ golfing games. However, this year sees a complete start from scratch, after announcing the game during the 2014 E3. There’s a new lead character for the PGA Tour, which took a one-year break back in 2013. Tiger Woods got replaced by Rory McIlroy, the game jumped to the current generation as well as implementing Frostbite 3, so the Rory McIlroy PGA Tour game can really be looked at as a complete scratch from the start effort.
Why isn’t Tiger Woods on the cover? The sponsors and the publisher decided to depart, after Woods got into some trouble himself, so it seemed a good idea to keep a distance from him. The Irish McIlroy – with his 26-year-old age – can be the new face for a long time, after wnning the 2014 British Open and US PGA.
We’re interested in how the Frostbite 3 engine got managed to be used, because let’s face it, it wasn’t meant for golfing games of all things!
