Elden Ring: What DLCs Might Be Coming After Shadow Of The Erdtree?!

FromSoftware has no plans to give up the most successful game in its history forever, but it is still questionable when and in what form Elden Ring will continue…

After more than two years of waiting, the arrival of the first Elden Ring expansion is just around the corner. The dark fantasy adventure continues this summer with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, about which we learn more and more. The latest news comes from Hidetaka Miyazaki himself. In a recent cover interview, he revealed some fascinating details about the DLC. As a bitter pill, we can start by saying that the Japanese creator ruled out the arrival of new downloadable content. However, it left the door open for a possible Elden Ring 2.

A sequel to the Elden Ring is more likely than ever

In an interview with Zhihu, the Japanese developer revealed his problem with DLCs. “Elden Ring focuses on exploration and adventure in a large, open world. To provide such an experience, you need a huge stage, so instead of dividing it into several parts, it was better to make one bigger. were to be sold separately, the freedom of discovery and the sense of adventure would be reduced,” he explained.

In that sense, and as we can sense from the long wait for the release of Shadow of the Erdrtree, the content is newly created, not “cut” from the original game.

A Bandai Namco és a FromSoftware hivatalosan is közzétette az első Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC trailert. Ráadásul megerősítették a megjelenési dátumot és még sok mást is...

Perhaps due to the requirements of making the new content truly appreciable, the possibility of another expansion was ruled out. “This is the first and last DLC. We have no plans to add more content to Elden Ring,” Miyazaki said. However, there is not only negative news. As FromSoftware’s president explained, the door is open for a sequel: “FromSoftware’s way is not to close the future of an IP so easily, and it’s better to leave some options open.”

In addition to sharing this information about the game’s future, Miyazaki also revealed some details about the gameplay. For example, he claims the difficulty of the DLC will be the same as the second half of the base game. Many “weapons, combat abilities and spells” will be added to the game.

From his interview, we also know that in the expansion, we will meet some characters that we have already heard about during the main adventure, although not NPCs that were directly present in the story.

According to our current information, Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on June 21 on all platforms where Elden Ring has been available (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC). In this sense, we still have time to give FromSoftware’s game a second spin if we want to prepare for the DLC (which is available in the second half of the adventure). Or to start the game if we haven’t given him a chance so far…
