A title from the Classics catalog of games available on the most expensive subscription tier of PlayStation Plus has leaked, and it will likely arrive for subscribers in the June update.
PlayStation Plus updates its game lineup every month (while Microsoft announces Xbox Game Pass updates twice a month, and also lists what’s leaving the service, while Sony doesn’t really do that). The June update has yet to be announced, but PlayStation Store is already listing a game that was released for PlayStation 2 that will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 via emulation, with each console getting a separate version.
This hasn’t been the case until now, as the PS2 emulated games offering hasn’t been updated since 2019, so there’s no word of a PlayStation 5 version. The game we’re talking about is Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which will feature upscaling, rewinding, quick saves, and custom video filters. PS2 peripherals are not supported on the new consoles, so according to the information on the PlayStation Store, there may be minor differences on Sony’s newer consoles.
The store listing says: “You will be thrust into the heat of battle in the galaxy’s most unforgettable conflict. Lead the Republic Army in the greatest battles of the epic Clone Wars as Anakin Skywalker, Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Your mission: Stop the Separatists from reassembling an ancient Sith weapon of mass destruction! Pick up where Episode II leaves off. Play through the greatest battles of the epic Clone Wars. Sixteen single-player missions on six sprawling worlds from the Star Wars universe. Pilot five unique vehicles (Republic gunship, speeder bike, battle tank, assault walker, and even a maru) against over 30 different combat units. Missions range from intense hand-to-hand combat to massive large-scale battles. Four completely different multiplayer modes: Team-based Strategy, Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Cooperative Endurance. Two-player offline multiplayer is supported.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming to PlayStation Plus Premium members on June 11 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
