Watch Dogs Goes to Bollywood

A new movie called 18.11 is blatantly copying Watch Dogs.

Bollywood has a history of imitating popular video game releases in its movies and promotional materials for those movies. Ek Tha Tiger, for example, bears more than a passing resemblance to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series, and Velayutham is pretty much just Assassin’s Creed with awesome dancing.

As IndianVideoGamer notes (via Kotaku), those movies came out long after the games they resemble, but a new Bollywood movie, 18.11, is already copying Watch Dogs in its posters, as you can see in the image above.

If you’ll watch the trailer you’ll notice that the actual movie doesn’t look much like Watch Dogs at all other than making reference to some “extraordinary software,” which evokes the game’s hacking themes.

Watch Dogs launched on Tuesday across Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC, with a Wii U version to follow. It quickly became Ubisoft’s fastest-selling game of all time. For more on Watch Dogs, check out GameSpot’s review and what other critics are saying.
