Assassin’s Creed: Unity Resolution, isn’t Locked Down according to Ubisoft

There was a bit of a scandal because of Assassin’s Creed: Unity’s native resolution on PS4. A few days ago, Producer Vincent Pontbriand told that both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Assassin’s Creed: Unity would launch with a native resolution of 900p, running at 30fps in order to “avoid all the debates and stuff.” Well, Pontbriand’s revelation has done nothing but stir more debating among PS4 and Xbox One users; debating that has now prompted Ubisoft to be on the defensive side.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Ubisoft stated that the final specs for Assassin’s Creed: Unity have not been locked down. They did admit that the gameplay demo they showed press at a recent preview event was running at 900p, but it may not be the native resolution the game launches with.

“We aren’t sure yet about the final specs for Assassin’s Creed Unity,” a Ubisoft spokesperson explained, “but we can say we showed Assassin’s Creed Unity at 900p during our hands-on preview event last week. We’re confident that gamers will be thrilled with the gorgeous graphics and how Paris is brought to life in Assassin’s Creed Unity.

“The development team has been hard at work delivering the best Assassin’s Creed possible on next generation consoles. Regardless of which platform you’re playing on, Assassin’s Creed Unity will answer what an Assassin’s Creed game built from the ground up for the next generation of gaming looks like and will be the best looking Assassin’s Creed game ever developed.”

Assassin’s Creed: Unity may still reach 1080p, though it might take a Day One patch as with like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. We’ll find out soon when Assassin’s Creed: Unity launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC November 11.
