Sony’s 2014 results

The fiscal year of 2014 has ended, so Sony has published their financial results of this time period the other day. We know now that Sony has sold a total 22.2 million PS4 units, which they want to see hit the 38 million mark by next year. This amount was raised by 2.1 million PS4s in the last quarter year.

In this year, Sony sold 14.8 million PS4s and 3.3 million PS Vitas – the games generated a total of 3.8 billion dollars of revenue. Unsurprisingly, Sony’s flagship brand is the PlayStation one, because this generated 11.5 billion dollars of revenue, which is a 25% increase compared to the year before!

What about profits? Sony gained a 400 million dollar operating profit, which is a definite plus after 2013’s 16 million dollar loss (but there’s still time needed, as consoles are losing money in the first years, which will be turning things around as years pass).

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
