Another hacker squad might destroy the peaceful Christmas gaming

If you remember 2014’s Christmas Day, you might recall a memory when you weren’t able to use nor Xbox Live, neither PlayStation Network. It was because a hacker team called Lizard Squad attacked both services. This year might see a repeat of the events but extended out to an entire week. It would be done by a different hacking crew, though.

Xbox Live and PlayStation Network might go down for an entire week thanks to Phantom Squad – previously, they claimed to take successfully down servers of Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Grand Theft Auto V and even Reddit. Their reasoning? They claim that „cybersecurity doesn’t exist”.

We don’t know if the attacks will happen or not, but let’s hope this is a warning sign for both systems and companies. Hopefully, nothing will happen, but if there will be a fly in that soup, be sure to prepare some backup plans to spend the next week without gaming. Better be safe than sorry!

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
