Yesterday was a return to the boring weekdays of everyday life for many: school, work and so on. We could easily think that this would be an ordinary day for Sony. It turned out to be the complete opposite for them: PlayStation Network suffered a major outage, making the service entirely unusable for half a day. What happened?
PSN’s issues affected the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita users as well. Something is disturbing for us about this: Sony’s reaction, or the lack thereof. Although they did confirm their network is down, they didn’t give us a reason. Why was PlayStation Network down?
Meanwhile, the PSN has returned to normal service (confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida himself on Twitter) still without any explanation about yesterday’s shenanigans. Maybe it was another hacker attack – that would explain Sony’s silent stance. Sony should do something about this: PSN got struck twice in two weeks, making their service shown in a negative light. Get your act together already, Sony – even though they are working on extensions for PS Plus and PS Now subscribers (plus video rentals) to make up for the lost time. More details to be announced soon.
