Rumor: No main Assassin’s Creed game in 2016? And what about the next game?

Since 2009 we have seen – at least! – one Assassin’s Creed game per year. In ’09, Ubisoft released AC II and in the past six years, we saw multiple main installments and spinoffs alike. However, it looks like Ubisoft is going to skip 2016 to focus on 2017 with the next big Assassin’s Creed game. That was mentioned by allegedly a Ubisoft employee on 4chan.

2017 would see the release of Assassin’s Creed Empire, which would be set in Egypt. This game would be a complete revamp of the series, giving it a Witcher feel. Horses, boats, freeform combat system, and character progression. We could say that AC is going into a much more RPG-ish gameplay if these are all true. The game is developed by the Black Flag team. But wait, what would Ubisoft launch in the holiday season this year? Kotaku speculates it would be Watch Dogs 2 – this game would get a San Francisco setting.

Remember, take this information with a huge grain of salt – Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed anything about this rumor!

  1. AC is dead… Ubi should to rest a bit, and wait 1 or 2 years before they release an other Assassin’s Creed…
