Keiji Inafune put up a Megaman-clone game on Kickstarter in 2013, three years after his departure from Capcom. This is Mighty No. 9. While another one of this crowdfunding game has gone down the toilet (Red Ash), MN9 was on course for a long time with the development… until it got delayed once, then twice. It’s not over yet.
The game delayed yet again! The sad part of the story is that the announcement happened just two weeks before February 9. This is when the game would have been out after the second delay. Mighty No. 9 is delayed until Spring 2016 with no concrete release date mentioned! We got two reasons for the delay: matchmaking doesn’t work properly, and the engine used for the game (Unreal Engine 3) is not being updated anymore – it means Unreal Engine 3 is now rather hindering than helping development.
After all this, is it a surprise that most of the Internet thinks of Keiji Inafune in a negative manner? We wonder if Deep Silver – the publisher – will have enough of this.
