World collapsed! No main Assassin’s Creed title this year!

Another rumor proved to be true: in 2016, Ubisoft indeed will not release a main Assassin’s Creed title. This meant that since 2009, 2016 will be the first year not to have an AC game. This announcement was made by Ubisoft themselves.

As they say, „This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise.” They will skip the almost obligatory main installment and focus on the 2017 title, which is rumored to be codenamed Empire and it will have an Egyptian location with a fully open-world gameplay. But wait! The absence of AC in the autumn means Ubisoft will have one less AAA title for this year!

Previous rumors said that the French company might launch Watch Dogs’ sequel in the autumn – previously Ubisoft stated that they want to turn this IP into a franchise.

Nevertheless, there’s still going to be Assassin’s Creed in 2016: Chronicles’ trilogy is now complete and at the end of December, the movie will also launch.
