Star Wars: J.J. Abrams Reveals Important Information About Rey’s Parents!

MOVIE NEWS – J.J. Abrams, the director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens nearly set the whole internet on fire. In the course of some event, called Tribeca Talks at the Borough of Manhattan Community College Friday night, Abrams replied to a question of an audience member, “Who are Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) parents?” His response stunned everyone. While Abrams did not give a direct answer regarding her lineage, his shocking answer dispelled many of the existing fan theories up to this point. Excluding one major one. Here’s what he declared to the crowd.

“Rey’s parents are not in Episode 7. So I can’t possibly tell you who they are at this moment. It may sound like an autosave. But all I will say is that this is something that Rey thinks about, too.”

Abruptly, after J.J. Abrams made this bold declaration, he renounced some of what he said. His statement might not be entirely true. He claims he misspoke, and tells EW a different story. He explains himself, causing, even more, confusion.

“What I meant was that she doesn’t discover them in Episode VII. Not that they may not already be in her world.”

Many fans have considered that Rey is also a Skywalker and that she may be Luke’s (Mark Hamill) daughter, who was lost a long time ago. That was a fan theory alright, but that actually made a lot of sense. Otherwise, why would Luke’s lightsaber call to her? And then fly into her arms to duel Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) during the pivotal forest battle scene at the climax of Episode Seven?

Some other fans also think that Rey may be the daughter of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). That seems very unlikely. It’s pretty hard to conceive that Leia did not recollect giving birth to a second child.

Still, we can’t totally forget those theories, since Abrams has already alerted us not to take him at his word. He has actually been known to tell stories about things regarding Star Wars before
