Tobey Maguire is Praising the New Spider-Man, Tom Holland in a His Instagram Post

MOVIE NEWS – We saw in last weekend’s Captain America: Civil War Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man, who has been admired by fans and critics alike for his accomplishment in this Marvel Phase 3 adventure.

We are aware that Peter Parker will make his return in the reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming, which has a July 7, 2017, release date. It seems one of Tom Holland‘s fans is the actor who first brought the web slinger to the big screen, Tobey Maguire.

Tobey Maguire published a video to his Instagram page made by a fan, which shows a scene from the original Spider-Man trilogy changed in a funny way. Tobey Maguire‘s Peter Parker is seen watching the Spider-Man scene from the Captain America: Civil War trailer. It then cuts to Tobey’s Parker pulling his old Spidey suit from under his bed to stare at it longingly. Maguire shared the parody in stride while giving a shout-out to Tom Holland on his Instagram page. Here’s what he had to say below.

“Haha seriously, who made this? @tomholland2013 good job! You are great as Spider-Man. Keep it up!”

Tobey Maguire performed Peter Parker in 2002’s Spider-Man, 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and 2007’s Spider-Man 3 before the character was rebooted in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield. 19-year-old Tom Holland is much younger than both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were when they landed the role, with the upcoming reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming following Peter through his high school years, skipping the origin story of how he got his abilities. The story has been rumored to follow Peter as he tries to juggle his school work with his crime-fighting activities.

It has also been said that Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the beginning of a new trilogy, with each movie representing a year of his high school career. Marisa Tomei is there as Aunt May, with Zendaya Coleman also landing the lead role of Michelle. Laura Harrier has also come aboard as an unspecified high school student, along with Tony Revolori, who plays Peter’s schoolyard enemy named Manuel. Captain America: Civil War star Robert Downey Jr. has also signed on to reprise his role as Tony Stark in this superhero adventure.

Michael Keaton was originally attached to play the unspecified villain, but he backed away from the project last month. It isn’t known when shooting will begin. Jon Watts (Cop Car) is directing Spider-Man: Homecoming from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Vacation). Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is producing alongside Amy Pascal. Take a look at this humorous video posted by Tobey Maguire, and stay tuned for more updates on Spider-Man: Homecoming.
