Activision: Big Layoffs

Multiple studios had to lay off several employees.

The timing looks suspicious: after the financial earnings report, Activision decided to cut down its workforce by roughly five percent, according to Kotaku.

Treyarch, Beenox, and Infinity Ward are all affected by layoffs – the latter company was responsible for last year’s Call of Duty, Infinite Warfare, which failed to fulfill the expectations even when compared to Treyarch‘s Black Ops III. Thus, Infinity Ward had to let twenty of its employees go.

Activision’s 2017 looks ominously bleak: aside from Sledgehammer’s upcoming, „back to the roots” Call of Duty, only Destiny 2 is planned to launch this year. That’s a weak line-up of games for a giant like Activision!

However, they didn’t end up hitting a negative result in the last quarter year…
