The explanation is somewhat unbelievable.
The new, numbered installment of Kingdom Hearts has been in development for years, and now, Tetsuya Nomura, the director told GameSpot what the deal is with the game.
He said that a year into development, Square Enix had switched engines with no explanation given, meaning the game moved to Unreal Engine 4, and thus, a lot of things had to be restarted, plus multiple people from the team were moved to other projects. These issues were out of his hands.
Unbelievable – Kingdom Hearts 3 is pretty much going through a development hell, just like how Mass Effect Andromeda did. Kingdom Hearts 3 is out in 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
