PlayStation 4: More Sales, But Not Everything Is Positive

Sony has revealed the new sales regarding the PlayStation 4.

Gamespot reports that the PlayStation 4 has shipped 63.3 million, according to Sony. A quarter year ago, the Japanese company announced that they reached 60 million, and during at E3, Sony said the PS4 is at 60.4 sold consoles – as expected, the sales have gone higher… but not everything is so rosy. The year-on-year shipments have dropped, which underlines Sony’s prediction – they want to ship 18 million in the April 2017-March 2018 fiscal year, which is lower than the previous year’s 20 million figure.

Sony’s Game & Network Services arm, which is where PlayStation is located, has had a 5.4% year-on-year increase, especially due to PlayStation 4 game sales, but the console’s price drop has affected the arm’s bottom line. Sony didn’t reveal new PlayStation VR sales figures for some unexplainable reason, though (in February, they said the headset had reached 915 thousand sales). The PS4‘s goal by the end of March 2018 is 78 million, by the way.

As we can expect a lot of exclusives in the next year, the performance might see another boost.
