Disney Spies On Children, Plus It Shoots Itself In Foot

Naughty, naughty!

Disney is being sued in Californa state in the USA by Amanda Rushing because they allegedly had forty-two gaming apps that collected personal information, which was illegally forwarded to advertisers. The company defends itself, saying there’s no merit behind this lawsuit, according to The Washington Post . Here, we also learned that Unity, Upsight, and Kochava is also being taken to court, as the four companies have apparently violated COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) – to not go into law, just the basics: COPPA protects children’s privacy online. A spokesperson of Disney says that the lawsuit fundamentally misunderstands how COPPA works, and they comply with the law and that they will defend themselves in court.

Disney might be making a huge mistake, though: they announced that from 2019, they are breaking away from Netflix, which means the Disney– and Pixar-library will likely be pulled from the popular service. Disney plans to start its own streaming service, probably lifting over their library in the process.

They will be hard pressed to reach the success of Netflix, though…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
