A Massive Tactical MMO Shooter Utilizes SpatialOS! Outstanding Promises…

The technology could be showing some unprecedented features in Automaton Games‘ upcoming game.

We read on WCCFTech that Deceit‘s developers, Automaton, is working on a tactical MMO shooter, which will use CryEngine, as well as Improbable’s tech called SpatialOS. Quoting the features, the developers wrote in their press release:

  • 1,000 concurrent players occupying a detailed shared world
  • A huge 12km x 12km explorable, graphically realistic and highly dynamic environment, enabling advanced tactical gameplay
  • Strong character progression, social hubs and global-scale player-driven narrative that will shape a unique MMO experience
  • An additional last-man standing Player vs Player arena combat mode, with up to 400 players in direct combat.
  • Unprecedented world simulation and effects, including environmental destruction, roaming wildlife, dynamic weather, foliage displacement, tracks, blood trails, fire and water effects, fully immersing players in the experience of being the hunter – or the hunted.

The game has no title yet (it’s codenamed Project X), and it’s likely going to show up in Early Access on PC next Spring. We saw SpatialOS in former games like Lazarus, Seed, Rebel Horizons or Chronicles of Elyria.

If the developers will keep their promises and their game would not require a brand new PC, the Automaton-game could be showing significant technological evolution!
