The PlayStation 3 Gets A New Firmware Update!

That’s not a typo in the title, that’s a number three!

The PlayStation 3, which launched roughly eleven years (!) ago, received a new system software update by Sony, Pure PlayStation reports. The 4.82 firmware is already available to install, and although the official patch note doesn’t say anything else other than the usual system stability improvements, there’s likely another reason behind Sony’s move.

With 4.82, Sony is likely stepping up its game against piracy (otherwise why would the PS3 get a new firmware out of nowhere?), which is understandable. However, after this move, we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony went back to the PlayStation Vita as well, and even that handheld is turning six in a month or so…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
