Bungie wants to overhaul its game massively.
Christopher Barrett, the game’s director, announced that one of the three types of content would be free. They are the following:
Out of these three, the Seasons content will be free for everyone. Iron Banner, Faction Rallies, and their rewards will be available to everyone as part of Season 2. Also, new Seasonal rewards from Crucible, Strikes, and Trials of the Nine will be available to all players shortly. Faction Rallies returns on January 16, followed by Iron Banner on January 30.
Eververse never wanted to be a replacement for end game content, which is why Ghosts, Sparrows, and ships will be activity bonuses, making Bright Engrams less important in Destiny 2’s endgame. Barrett promises gameplay routes for these, as well as event-exclusive loot. Modifying the Bright Engrams and the direct purchase options will also make RNG factor smaller for players to make them get what they want, hopefully pushing microtransactions back by a bit. The Eververse-changes will be applied from February 13, when Crimson Days will launch. There will be a maintenance on January 16 between 8 AM and 12 PM Pacific to bring in the first of these changes!
Bungie also revealed a quite hefty roadmap for the next few months in Destiny 2. We don’t want to copy and paste it all – you can find all the details here. There are even plans for the autumn part of the year, which means the developers have a few things to keep the players happy. All we can say is, Hope For The Future…
