Shadow Of The Colossus: Is It More Successful Than The PlayStation 2 Original?

In one of the key markets for the gaming industry, one of the classics of 2005 in a new coat of paint took the launch nicely.

Fumito Ueda’s game launched roughly a week ago on PlayStation 4, and in the United Kingdom, it immediately became the best-selling title last week. In itself, that’s not much to mention, but in comparison to the PS2 original, the PlayStation 4 version sold 73% more, although we have to remember that the gaming industry and market have grown significantly in the past twelve years. Mind you, these are just physical sales!

Another outstanding result is that Shadow of the Colossus has become the 8th Sony-exclusive title this year (possibly the business year that started in April and will end in March…) to reach the top spot. The previous chart leader, Monster Hunter World, has dropped back to third place.

If Shadow of the Colossus can keep itself on the podium for February, then we can answer the question in the title with a simple yes.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
