God Of War Claims Several Awards At The Golden Joystick Awards!

While Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica’s game from April has won several awards, it might have lost the most important one of them all…

Let’s take a look at the complete list of winners – they mostly speak for themselves, maybe with the exception of the game of the year award’s winner:

  • Game of the Year: Fortnite
  • Best Storytelling: God of War
  • Studio of the Year: Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica
  • Best New Streamer/Broadcaster: Amelia Rose Blaire and Bryan Dechart
  • Mobile Game of the Year: Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds
  • Best Competitive Game: Fortnite
  • PC Game of the Year: Subnautica
  • PlayStation Game of the Year: God of War
  • Best Co-op Game: Monster Hunter World
  • Xbox Game of the Year: Forza Horizon 4
  • Best Visual Design: God of War
  • Nintendo Game of the Year: Octopath Traveler
  • Best Indie Game: Dead Cells
  • Breakthrough Award: Unknown Worlds (Subnautica)
  • Most Wanted Game: Cyberpunk 2077
  • Critics Choice Award: Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Best Audio: God of War
  • Still Playing Award: World of Tanks
  • Best Performer: Bryan Dechart (Detroit: Become Human)
  • Outstanding Contribution: Microsoft (Xbox Adaptive Controller)
  • Best VR Game: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
  • Lifetime Award: Hidetaka Miyazaki (President of FromSoftware, producer/director of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice)

So PlayStation won several awards, but this year, Fortnite became game of the year. Forza Horizon 4 is available on Windows 10 as well, so the category is somewhat pointless at the moment. Most awards are reasonable, though – Miyazaki’s lifetime award is well deserved.

Congratulations to the winners!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
