Did Dead Island 2 Change Developers Again!?

This game seems to do everything wrong…

Techland was the original developer team behind Dead Island, but they left Deep Silver to work with Warner on a new game and IP with similar gameplay (which became Dying Light). Meanwhile, Deep Silver (who we could call THQ Nordic by this point, as in February, they bought Koch Media, the owners of DS) shifted development to YAGER, who made something memorable but poorly selling with Spec Ops: The Line in 2012. From the German devs, the game went further to Sumo Digital, whose next game, Crackdown 3, should be out after several years of issues in February.

Jan David Hassel, who previously worked on Dead Island 2 at YAGER, said in a now-deleted tweet that he believes the development was further forwarded to Dambusters, who made Homefront: The Revolution after a troublesome development for that game. What a coincidence: meanwhile, this team is looking for programmers and animators for an AAA franchise with experience in Unreal Engine 4…

So Dead Island 2, which was announced in 2014, might have changed engines (it was planned to use CryEngine) and dev teams once again… will this game ever be completed?

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
