Alien: Isolation 2? Forget About It! [VIDEO]

FoxNext cleared up rumours about such a game…

Let’s go back in time first. Around December, a trademark for Alien: Blackout showed up. Back then, we guessed that it might be Creative Assembly’s 2014 game, Alien: Isolation’s sequel. We were wrong – the game will launch on January 24 on iOS, Android, and Amazon AppStore, developed by D3 Go! (we haven’t heard a lot from them… Marvel Puzzle Quest, Adventure Gnome), featuring Amanda Ripley, the protagonist of Alien: Isolation. While it’s a horror game, the like-dislike ratio, now It is the horror: for 89K views, it’s 454-10203.

The video sits thereafter at least one re-upload, so the Internet didn’t take the announcement kindly… so after Command & Conquer: Rivals and Diablo: Immortal, another franchise falls flat on its face in front of its fans. It seems like the publishersdon’t want to learn from the previous two examples. FoxNext also announced that Cold Iron Studios is working on an unnamed Alien MMO shooter on „consoles and PC.” (The game was announced about a year ago, but the genre is new information.)

But there will be no Alien: Isolation 2 (nor a new film), even though the first one was an excellent game – TQ Jefferson, FoxNext‘s vice president of external development, told Variety the following: „There are a lot of stories we can tell in the franchise. We can tell more stories about Amanda Ripley without it being an ‘Isolation’ game,” adding that there is no Isolation 2 in development. Jefferson also brought up the Diablo fiasco, too: „I can see some people making a connection between ‘Diablo’ and this, but I think it’s a bit of a leap. The ‘Diablo’ backlash was focused on free-to-play and mobile, our game is a premium mobile game where you pay one price and you’re done. It’s a contained experience.” What an excellent logic there: he mentions that Diablo: Immortal is a mobile game (as part of the fan backlash), only to add that their game is also a mobile title… and then he wonders why fans tie the two (or three…) examples together.

So we shouldn’t expect a „traditional” Alien game in the next years…
